Since 2023, Uzbekistan has entered a new stage of education reform — improving teaching quality, modernizing curriculum, expanding preschool access, and preparing students for a competitive global future.

2022–2026

National School Development Program

Uzbekistan's government launches a comprehensive education reform agenda: teacher development, modern curriculum, digital transformation, preschool expansion, and stronger foreign language outcomes.

2023

Smart Tongues Education Programme Launched

The Ministry introduces the Smart Tongues Education Programme. Starting with approximately 500 foreign teachers, international specialists begin working in public secondary schools nationwide.

The Smart Tongues Education Programme was introduced in 2023 as part of Uzbekistan’s wider education reform agenda. Its mission is to strengthen foreign language education in public schools by connecting students and local teachers with qualified international educators.

Where You’ll Teach

Teachers are placed in public secondary schools across all 14 regions of Uzbekistan, including Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, Fergana, and Namangan. Placement preferences are considered where possible.

Contract Duration

Contracts are offered for 9 months, with the possibility of a 3-month extension during the summer camp period depending on programme needs.

Chinese Language Teacher

Responsibilities

  • Teach Chinese for 28 contact hours weekly to secondary school students from Grade 7 to Grade 11.
  • Plan and prepare the necessary resources for each lesson.
  • Mark and provide appropriate feedback on students’ oral and written work.
  • Track students’ progress at the end of each term.
  • Cooperate with local teachers.
  • Conduct workshops for local Chinese language teachers two times in one academic year.

Qualifications

  • Native Chinese speaker.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience teaching Chinese at the secondary/high school level.
  • Experience of living or teaching abroad is highly desirable.
  • HSK, YCT, TCFL, TCSOL, and Hanyu Shuiping Jiaoshi Zhengshu certificates are appreciated.
  • Russian or English is appreciated at a conversational level.
